I purchased 3 shades in 2 different finishes - matte & satin. The formula is beautiful! It's silky soft and extremely easy to blend out. If you're familiar with the YSL Mini Clutch eyeshadow quads, I'd say the blush formula is consistent with it. The colors are very pigmented and long-lasting. YSL claims that these blushes are waterproof but I haven't gotten a chance to see if they are really waterproof. There is no discerning fragrance in these blushes.
YSL Make Me Blush Powder 42 Baby Doll Pink ($45, Sephora)
Baby Doll Pink is a cool-toned pale pink with a satin finish. It has fine silvery shimmers and a good amount of white base. This is a lovely brightening blush shade on my complexion and I think it would also make a great blush topper or even a highlighter on deeper skin tones.
YSL Make Me Blush Powder 44 Nude Lavallière ($45, Sephora)
Nude Lavallière is such a pretty and versatile nude pink with a gorgeous glow. I think this is my favorite from the 3 I picked up although I love them all. This shade looks great with many different colors and of course, it makes a great companion shade to YSL's iconic Nude Lavallière lip colors.
YSL Make Me Blush Powder 87 Pink Voltage ($45, Yves Saint Laurent Beauty)
Here are all three shades swatches in one place:
Here in this look, I am wearing my favorite shade, Nude Lavalliere.
I am also wearing the Metallic Crush collection that came out last fall. I admit that I bought the collection mostly for the cool packaging but these are great staple shades. I think this limited edition quad is still available and if you don't have the Stora Doll quad, I'd highly recommend grabbing this version.
In sum, YSL nailed it this time. The packaging is undeniably the biggest part of the attraction but it isn't just about the cool couture look. I'd say it's very practical as well! It is color-coded so you can grab the shade you want easily. It is compact yet feels sturdy enough to pack on a trip. And, obviously, what's inside is great. I have tried all 3 shades and confidently tell you that they all perform as nicely as they look. In terms of the colors, these are not the most unique shades but what they offer pretty much covers the whole spectrum so you should be able to find something you love.
I love these blushes but the rest of the shades currently available in the US wouldn't add a lot to my already crowded blush collection, so my intention is not to add more shades at this point. Of course, that can change.
The new YSL Make Me Blush Powder is available on Sephora and on the YSL official site.
