Chanel Spring Summer 2025 "Colormatch" Makeup Collection

Chanel Spring 2025 Makeup Collection review swatches

This year, Chanel gave the Spring/Summer collection to us earlier than usual (Traditionally, we would see a Le Blanc collection first). This is essentially a pastel collection but the colors can be mixed and matched in a unique fresh way. I usually find pastels harder to pull off because high-contrast colors with clarity look better on me. However, I find these lighter colors quite easy to wear and the formulas are just amazing that it's been a pleasure creating different looks with the collection!

Chanel Jeux de Lumières ($90, Chanel)

This is a multi-use eyeshadow and highlighter palette. At first, I didn't know what to think of it because the colors looked quite warm and not so different from each other. But it turns out to be a really versatile and beautiful palette. More than anything, the formula is superb and the palette indeed works very well both on the eyes and the complexion.

The color story is a neural warm but the bottom right shade is the only shade that is truly warm. Other shades are pretty much neutral. All 4 shades are silky and extremely blendable without being too powdery. The difference is subtle but I enjoy the variety of the tone and the finish.

There is no real "highlighter" shade for me in this palette. However, I enjoy the left side colors as luminous blushes and the right side as eyeshadows. They mix and blend beautifully together and look amazing especially when layered over a dark creme base on the eyes.

Chanel Ombre Essentielle ($40, Nordstrom)

Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof ($34, Chanel)

Chanel Rouge Coco Baume Shine ($45, Chanel)

We have 4 limited-edition shades in Ombre Essentielle and 4 corresponding eyeliners. Chanel also brought out a new lip formula, Rouge Coco Baume Shine. I initially purchased 2 eyeshadow singles, 2 eyeliners, and 1 lip color but ended up buying a few more because I really enjoy the formulas.

Mauve Sucré is a pale lilac pink with a gorgeous satin shimmer finish. This pairs nicely with the Mauve Intense eyeliner. Menthé à L'eau is a fresh mint green with a satin shimmer finish and Vert Lagon is a beautiful companion to this eyeshadow. Rouge Coco Baume Shine Charming Lilac is a lovely and juicy purple shade that is quite wearable.

I didn't get to make a separate swatch photo, but I additionally purchased the Latte Frappe eyeshadow (it is a slightly warm matte brown that is in line with the mocha mousse trend) and another shade of Baume Shine, Raspberry Kiss, which will be showcased in the look photos.

Not dupes, but I made a quick comparison swatch set with the existing Ombre Essentielle shades. They look great when used together.

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Les Perles Lipstick ($52, Chanel)

Chanel has a limited edition of Rouge Allure Velvet, "Les Perles". There are 7 new shades available. The formula seems lighter and has more slip compared to the existing Rouge Allure Velvet. I find the new formula much more comfortable on the lips and easier to wear so I hope this will become permanent. I was lucky to grab this gorgeous duo set (it was extremely popular and sold out very quickly). I adore the faux leather case and the two lipstick shades included.

Sensuelle is a lighthearted red with a cool undertone that is perfect for spring! Lumineuse is a gorgeou mauvy nude.

As I mentioned, these colors have a good amount of slip so they glide on the lips and you can even see sheens for a while. In fact, they remind me more of Rouge Allure, not Rouge Allure Velvet.

And, here are 3 different makeup looks that I created using the various items in the collection:

[First Look]

Here, I am wearing the Jeux de Lumières palette on the eyes and on the cheeks. The palette itself doesn't give me enough depth to my eye look so I started with a black cream base, Addiction Tokyo Black Beach (this has quickly become my staple). On the cheek, I am wearing the reformulated Joues Contraste in the Quintessence shade (it is pigmented and blends out very easily so I have no issue with the new formula). On the lips, I am wearing Rouge Allure Velvet Les Perles, Sensuelle.

[Second Look]

I paired the Latte Frappe with the Mauve Sucré single eyeshadow. I love this unusual color combo. Latte Frappe grounds the whole look and adds an interesting tone. In fact, I think it would look gorgeous with the mint green shade as well. The blush is Joues Contraste Intense in Rose Ardent (this cream-to-powder formula is the best blush formula that has come out recently. I have all 5 shades and enjoy every single one of them.). On my lips, I am wearing Rouge Coco Baume Shine in Raspberry Kiss. Love the color and the formula!

[Third Look]

This is a high-contrast look using the mint green and the lilac. For a pinky lilac effect on the cheeks, I used Les Tarrots de Chanel blush Lavender and Dior Rosy Glow Blush in Pink Lilac. On the lips, I am wearing Chanel Rouge Coco Baume Shine in Charming Lilac.

This is a fresh and gorgeous collection with lots of possibilities. I love that these pastel shades are multi-dimensional and wearable for many different skin tones. And, it's not just the beautiful colors but the formulas are a pleasure to work with!
