Prada and Hermès both took a minimalistic approach to their holiday makeup collection. (Well, it's just one highlighter from Hermés. I am telling you, this brand is lazy with their cosmetics line.) However, these two are the most impactful among all the holiday makeup I have purchased this year, and they go very well together!
Hermès Plein Air, 24 Faubourg - Face & Eye Illuminating Powder 02 Or Rose ($111, Nordstrom)
This is the second rendition of this particular version of highlighter. I have heard many good things about the formula but I hesitated a bit especially because I was underwhelmed by my first experience with Hermès makeup. I thought the fall eyeshadow quad was just okay and even something was missing from it although I still appreciate the rustic color story. However, this gorgeous Or Rose highlighter makes the eye quad whole. I love using it on the eyes as a base or a blending shade. It also works as a beautiful light blush color for me. Despite the ridiculour price, I still think it is worthwhile and have been reaching for it often.
I have compared the Hermès Or Rose highlighter with a couple of similar shades I have:
Prada Dimensions Platinum Eyeshadow Palette ($92, Nordstrom)
Prada offers one new eyeshadow palette with a couple of re-promoted lip shades for this holiday. The price for each item is also higher since this collection comes with the special design. However, personally, I don't think they did enough the justify the price hike (compared to Guerlain and Dior who have done amazing jobs with the special holiday packaging this year!).
The eyeshadow palette itself is truly mesmerizing, though! If you think most eye palettes from luxury brands don't give you enough pizzazz, Prada Holiday Eye Quad Platinum is your answer. These colors are very foiled and impactful. The color story is simple yet versatile so you can easily create 2-3 looks different looks.
Here is the makeup look:
They keep selling out but currently, both the highlighter and the eyeshadow quad are back in stock at Nordstrom.
