I have been sitting on this collection for a while not because I don't like it but because I have been overwhelmed by all these holiday makeup collections. Even Bobbi Brown has the usual extensive holiday collection out plus now the whimsical Pac-Man collaboration. I guess the "Polished Grunge" collection created by Bobbi Brown's Global Artistic Director, Hannah Murray is their version of the fall collection. This is inspired by the 90s grunge look but comes in modern high-performing formulas. Being a 90s kid, I couldn't pass this up. I initially picked up the eyeshadow/eyeliner sticks and 1 lip oil but ended up adding one more lip oil and the cream highlighter.
Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow & Kohl Liner ($39, Nordstrom)
If you enjoy simple yet impactful smokey eye looks, you will love these pencils. I've seen a few negative reviews on the quality and longevity of these sticks but I personally think they are quite awesome. The cream shadow blends well and the eyeliner doesn't budge. More than anything, I just love these chic grunge shades. There is something about them!
Bobbi Brown Cream Glow Highlighter Bare Glaze ($36, Nordstrom)
I much prefer powder highlighters in general but someone on Instagram raved about this one and I was curious. I have to say this is very pretty and kind of essential to create that "grungy" look. This doesn't set down completely but the universal shade is so pretty and it adds the perfect amount of glow. The cream eyeshadow sets down very quickly so I sometimes add a little bit of this highlighter and keep blending eyeshadows.
Bobbi Brown Lip & Cheek Oil ($32, Nordstrom)
I first bought the Bitten Cherry shade and even thought it was just alright, then I ended up really enjoying it so I added the Exposed shade as well. It can be used on the cheeks but I mostly just wear them on my lips. These sheer yet juicy colors complement the smokey eye colors very nicely. They feel very light, especially for lip oil, so it is easier to reapply them as I go.
And, here is a makeup look that I created using the Slate/Nightfall duo stick, Bitten Cherry lip & cheek oil, and the Bare Glaze highlighter:
I am wearing Bitten Cherry on the cheeks as well but first I applied the highlighter and then added the tint.
I really enjoy this simple, edgy, unusual, yet meticulously curated collection from Bobbi Brown. I will probably pick up a few more eye sticks during the BF sale soon.
