Chanel usually doesn't offer separate summer makeup collections (traditionally, "Les Beiges" collections are understood as summer offerings), but this year we get an extra treat of a standalone summer makeup collection - Jardin Imaginaire. It is full of dreamy vibrant colors that are just perfect for summer and the formulas are excellent. It is probably one of the "prettiest" Chanel makeup collections in recent years.
Jardin Imaginaire Blush and Highlighter Duo ($75, Chanel)
Light and Berry
Gold and Peach
There are two gorgeous blush/highlighter duos in baked formulas. I usually like cool-toned blush shades but I had to get both.
Light and Berry is a cool-toned combo of bright fuchsia berry and shimmery pale pink. The blush shade alone would look amazing in colder months as well. When mixed together, it creates a beautiful shimmery fuchsia. It is very pigmented and you can certainly build up but at the same time, it is quite easy to control the color intensity thanks to the baked formula.
The blush part is rather a coral than a peach and has little to no white base so it would show up on various skin tones. When mixed with the pale gold highlighter, you get more peachy colors. This duo is more flattering on my complexion than I anticipated. Very happy with it!
Stylo Ombre et Contour ($38, Chanel)
I've always liked this stick eyeshadow/liner hybrid from Chanel but these new limited shades are really special. They have more noticeable shimmers and look amazing on the eyes.
The formula is soft and very easy to blend but once set, these colors are very long-lasting. Lately, using a couple of these pencils is my favorite way to create simple, fuss-free eye looks.
In fact, blending is so easy with these pencils that I don't recommend excessive blending with stiff brushes. First of all, there is no need for that. Too much blending would cause glitter fallouts, actually.
Le Vernis ($32, Chanel)
The nail shades in the Jardin Imaginaire Collection are just glorious. There is a deep cream-brown shade that kinda looks out of place (cause we often associate brown polishes with autumn), but I quickly realized how perfectly that shade is placed in the collection. The name is "Faun", and of course, there should be a faun in the imaginary garden! Although I didn't pick up the brown polish, I love it when a makeup collection tells a cohesive story through colors like this.
Rêveuse is a stunning shimmery chartreuse. I will probably wear something like this once or twice a year but I had to have this amazing shade. I've received many compliments on this color. It is quite pigmented so I just need a generous one coat to achieve the color shown in the photo.
Songe D'Été is a gorgeous pearly pink with both cool and warm undertones. It is one of those demure nail colors but has a great presence. I ended up getting a backup of this color because it is very flattering on my skin. In the photo, I am just wearing one coat over a color-correcting base coat but you might need 2 coats for a similar effect.
