ADDICTION TOKYO debuted in the U.S. last fall and I couldn't be happier. This was after the rather unfortunate (but somewhat foreseeable) exit of Jill Stuart Beauty which is also under the Kanebo umbrella. No doubt both brands can offer something unique to the U.S. market not to mention their makeups are of great quality. Still, I personally think Addiction Tokyo is a better fit than the girly aesthetics of Jill Stuart.
Most Addiction Tokyo product lines have made it to the U.S. except for the foundation and eye quads. Some of the recent limited collections did not come at all (I mean, they quickly sold out even in Japan) so I was glad to see the futuristic and artistic holiday 2023 collection from the Addiction Tokyo US website. This year, Addiction Tokyo has collaborated with the renowned photographer Elizabeta Porodina, and her photos are featured on the gorgeous packaging.
"Unknown Familiar" Eyeshadow Palette 101 Look Closer ($62, Addiction Tokyo)
There are two eyeshadow palettes available in this collection and I purchased the one with the cooler undertones. 101 Look Closer palette features some iridescent pastels that are NOT chalky and a few neutrals that make this palette more versatile.
These eyeshadows are not super pigmented per se, but they have this quality I appreciate very much. I always say it is more difficult to make good quality pastels and mono tones and they usually require better quality pigment. I advocate sheer eyeshadows as long as they are of good quality and these are the very examples. They layer and blend seamlessly for a watercolor effect and maintain color integrity.
"Unknown Familiar" Mini Lip Trio 101 In The Moment ($38, Addiction Tokyo)
This trio is a great way to experience some of the Addiction Tokyo lip ranges. This adorable set consists of 2 liquid matte lip colors and 1 lip oil with a shimmery finish. All 3 formulas have great textures and wear beautifully. Addiction Tokyo's liquid lip matte formula has the lightest feel and does not dry out my lips.

"Unknown Familiar" The Nail Polish 107SP Inner Universe ($19, Addiction Tokyo)
I love pretty much everything from Addiction Tokyo but their nail polishes got to be one of my absolute favorites! There are so many unique and amazing shades with different finishes and intensities and these are not something you'd easily find from the Western market. I would highly recommend checking them out!
There are 5 amazing limited-edition nail colors in this collection. I see many of them correspond to the eyeshadow colors. The one I chose,
Inner Universe is a gorgeous dusty sky blue with multi-colored pearls. It is a pastel you can rock even during the colder months. I love it!
And here is the makeup look I created mainly using the "Unknown Familiar" Collection:
I did not buy
the blush palette from this collection as I have more than a few Addiction Tokyo blushes in various finishes. The
Aurora Veil blush I wore in this look has such a gorgeous blue/purple shift and looks very similar to the coveted Dior limited-edition Rouge Blush
Signature. If you have missed out on the Dior,
definitely get Aurora Veil!
Addiction Tokyo Holiday 2023 Collection "Unknown Familiar" has an unexpected yet very fresh vibe and I enjoy that quite a bit! I see myself wearing this collection in the coming spring as well!
Addiction Tokyo is a brand worth paying attention especially if you are looking for aesthetics that are different and refreshing without sacrificing quality and performance. Considering the amazing overall quality, I have to say the US price point is also amazing.
