For the Fall of 2023, Tom Ford has introduced "The Eyes of Tom Ford Collection" and we have two brand new Eye Color Quads. They have jewel tones and rich dark hues, and I find them rather refreshing and perfect for the season. I have picked up the Dark Opulence quad from the two. Read on for my swatches, review, and makeup look.
Tom Ford Eye Color Quad 44 Dark Opulence ($90, Sephora)
According to some reliable sources, these eyeshadow palettes feature Tom Ford's new talc-free powder formulations. I find them much improved from the previous pressed powder formula from the brand. I even thought they might be the "Creme" formula because the two shades on the right side felt very creamy to the touch. All 4 shades behave very nicely and they are pigmented. I am especially impressed with the creamy black color. It is not the deepest black but feels smooth and applies with no issue. I know how hard it is to formulate a good matte black eyeshadow so this is much appreciated.
The color story of Dark Opulence immediately reminded me of Guerlain Mystic Peacock so I made a comparison. The idea or the structure of the colors may be similar but to me, they are two very different palettes and yield two very different results as well.
Here, I have created a classic dark smoky eye makeup look with Dark Opulence:
Tom Ford Eye Color Quad, Dark Opulence ($90, Nordstrom)
Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate Blush, Brazen Rose ($95, Nordstrom)
Tom Ford Gloss Luxe, Love Lust
Chanel Boy de Chanel 3-in-1 Eye Pencil, Black
Wayne Goss The Essential Lip Pencil, Natural Berry ($14, Beautylish)
It is nice to see some rich colorful hues from Tom Ford since they have been doing lots of red and neutrals lately. I am glad the new powder formula performs very well. If you like the color stories, you will enjoy the new Eye Color Quad from Tom Ford.
Thanks for being here. What do you think about the new Eyes of Tom Ford Collection?
