Many fashion houses have entered the market in recent years but more than a few seem unprepared and "cash-grabby". I had my reservation but I have to say Prada Beauty this time around feels very well thought out.
I have tried the foundation, eyeshadow quad, and lipsticks and they all perform beautifully. The packaging and the colors suit the Prada brand image wonderfully, in my opinion.
Prada Reveal Foundation ($54 Selfridges | $56 Harrods | $70 Prada Beauty US)
The packaging feels luxe and industrial at the same time. Very Prada, if you ask me. I love how the refill mechanism is designed - so simple and seamless. The refill bottle itself is quite legit as well. It is made of glass and it would function just well even without the outer packaging. Very impressive.
There are 3 color groups with 3 subcategories in this foundation range. Light, Medium, and Deep (L, M, D) then the next alphabet indicates the undertones of Cool, Neutral, and Warm (C, N, W), then the color intensity is marked by numbers (the lightest shade is 5 and the number goes up by 5 - 5, 10, 15, 20, etc.) I purchased LW5 which is the lightest warm-toned color that Prada currently offers.
Prada Dimension Eye Palette ($72 Selfridges | $74 Harrods | $80 Prada Beauty US)
This eye quad is also refillable and currently, there are 6 different color stories. In essence, they are all neutral palettes but they have at least one pop of color which makes these color stories so interesting and refreshing. These are inspired by the brand's iconic fabric patterns and the color combinations are just delightful.
The refill system of the eye quad is also very simple and easy. There is a triangle button on the back and you just need to push it lightly to lift up the eyeshadow pan.
I chose Profusion (02). This is a very cool-toned smokey palette with a metallic accent. The accent (Prada calls it "Twist") here is a Chartreuse yellow and it is so unique and beautiful.
Each palette also offers 4 different textures and finishes that make them even more versatile.
According to Prada, the top strip is described as a "Structure" shade with a hyper matte finish that adds dimension to the eye look. This is the creamiest black I've ever experienced and seems to contain quite a bit of oil in it. The largest triangle pan is the "Base" shade and it has a soft satin finish. I love this foggy violet shade! The bottom left is a "Foil" shade and it has an amazing metallic presence. The bottom right is a "Twist" shade and it has a soft matte finish. The quality of the eyeshadow palette is amazing.
Prada Monochrome Soft Matte Lipstick ($41 Selfridges | $42 Harrods | $50 Prada Beauty US)
Also refillable. Prada says these Soft Matte lipsticks are created with a white base and only 3 different pigments. I am not even a matte lipstick person but thoroughly impressed with the formulation. It feels weightless and glides on. The finish is blurring and the colors are gorgeous. These lipsticks have the Prada Saffiano leather embossing and are scented. It smells like Prada Infusion d'Iris which is one of my faves.
Tiepolo is a beautiful sophisticated pinky beige. I love that they chose this famous Italian Painter as one of the color names.
Prada Monochrome Hyper Matte Lipstick ($41 Selfridges | $42 Harrods | $50 Prada Beauty US)
Hyper Matte is a more pigmented version and Prada says they formulated these with a black base and 3 kinds of pigment. The formula is beautiful - one of the best matte lipsticks I've tried so far.
Fuxia is a gorgeous Fuchsia shade that looks so flattering and brightening.

Overall, really excellent new beauty launch from Prada. I am so impressed by my initial experience and have ordered a few more eye quads and lipsticks.
Also, note that Prada Beauty Makeup is made in France and manufactured by L'Oreal. Some dismiss this range saying it's made by a drugstore brand but I find that laughable cause L'Oreal is the biggest conglomerate in the beauty space and they literally own everything. I am not sure if Prada Beauty is under the L'Oreal umbrella or just manufactured by them, though.
