I should probably talk about the reformulated Dior eyeshadow quints first but I've decided to start with the latest since I am so behind my blogging schedule.
So, as some of you may know, Dior has reformulated their iconic 5 Couleurs eyeshadow palettes and there were some initial mixed reviews. After trying a couple, I personally concluded Dior has NOT ruined this popular line at all and felt confident adding a couple more shades to my collection.
Rose du Soir (803) and Bal Masqué (503) are the newest colors introduced and they are a part of Dior's Pre-Fall collection (there is another Rouge Dior blush shade, Dior en Rose in this as well). For some reason, I was hoping to see some soft muted khaki tones from both but in real life, there is no prominent green tinge in either of them. Still, the color stories are gorgeous and sophisticated. The quality is as expected and the formula feels nearly identical to the old one. Honestly, I can't tell the difference.
Please keep reading for the swatches and comparisons!
Diorshow 5 Couleurs 803 Rose du Soir ($65, Dior.com)
A soft and feminine combination of pink and rosy brown. There is a topper shade but mostly, the overall finish is subtle with satin and matte.
I have compared Rose du Soir with Rose Tulle. Rose Tulle has a peachier undertone and comes with a more glittery topper. Not a dupe in my opinion.
When compared with Popeline (an LE from a spring collection in 2022), I see a few very similar shades but the finish in Popeline is more foiled than Rose du Soir. Also, Rose du Soir is warmer in tone.
Diorshow 5 Couleurs 503 Bal Masqué ($65, Dior.com)
Bal Masqué is a beautiful brown taupe palette with soft metallic and satin finishes.
However, this is very similar to Soft Cashmere. Bal Masqué is slightly more subdued and has a warmer brown undertone whereas Soft Cashmere has more pizzaz with a cooler minky undertone. I am not complaining but do wish it was more different. The overall makeup effect you get from these two is nearly indistinguishable unless you are a taupe lover like me and all the tone differences matter to you.
I also compared Bal Masqué with New Look for the sake of comparison. These are not dupes by any means. (But isn't New Look so beautiful?)
Hope you find this post helpful! Have you tried the new Diorshow 5 Couleurs? What is your experience with them?
