I usually get very excited when Dior brings out a new makeup collection but this fall, I feel let down a bit. The main collection, En Rouge Collection is definitely a disappointment and I was very sure that I'd skip it. Instead, I was going to dupe the look because En Rouge Collection looked very similar to Chanel's Fall Winter 2020 collection and I have most of the stuff already. Dior, however, made a mistake listing the eyeshadow quints at $44, not the usual $62, and at this point, I had to get one for science. So I picked up the Refelxion quint only. Right before this launch, Dior sneaked in 2 new Mono Couleur Couture shades and introduced a new matt lipstick formulation, Rouge Dior Forever. I purchased them as well. Scroll down for some thoughts, swatches, and makeup looks!
Dior Mono Couleur Couture 628 Coral Dune, 755 Violet Bloom ($32 each, Dior)
These are gorgeous. $32 per single eyeshadow is steep but if you're into one-and-done eyeshadow colors, I'd recommend checking these beautiful new shades.
Coral Due is a gorgeous sunny coral with a glittery finish. The application is flawless - it glides on and does not feel gritty at all. Subtle because the base is quite sheer but still noticeable thanks to the glitters. I don't normally reach for warm shades like this but I love Coral Dune. It is beautiful by itself and also gorgeous as a topper.
Violet Bloom is another beautiful color with a satin finish. This dusty mauvy shade has enough depth yet it looks demure and sophisticated. When swatched, it almost looks like a very subtle duochrome.
Rouge Dior Forever 780 Forever Lucky ($42, Sephora)
I really like the Forever Lucky shade I chose - it is a saturated raspberry. Although the finishes are completely different, it does look very similar to Dior Addict in Lucky.
I have put together a look using these new makeups:
Dior 5 Couleurs 889 Reflexion ($44, Dior)
This all-satin eyeshadow quint is actually quite beautiful and the cranberry color in the center is rather stunning! But, red eyeshadows don't look all that great on me and I have a couple of very similar-looking quads from the previous Chanel collection. I made comparisons and you'd probably agree with me that they are very similar, but I have to say I still prefer the Chanel quads. I don't have them but I also hear Reflexion is very similar to Dior Mitzah and Red Tartan quints.
The quality of the quint is nothing to fault. It's very pigmented and smooth. The color story is what I am not very happy about. It needs at least one lighter transition shade with a different texture.

I have also done a video review on this new fall makeup release from Dior. You can check out the overall makeup look I created using the Reflexion quint in my video:
Thanks for being here. What do you think of the new Dior En Rouge Collection and other new makeup? Will you pick up something for yourself?
