Suqqu Summer 2022 Collection certainly caught me off guard because initially, I was not interested at all after seeing some very lackluster stock photos plus the overall color story looked too warm. Then, I started seeing some beautiful real-life swatches on Instagram. I rushed to Selfridges (my go-to source for Suqqu makeup) but doubted there would be anything left since the collection had been out for 3 days at that point (I am only half-joking since this is usually the case with elusive Suqqu makeups). To my surprise, I was able to purchase everything I wanted, and guys, this is such a beautiful collection. They are still available as I am writing this post. Maybe those mediocre stock photos did us some favor this time. Go (Run) and get yourself some summer gorgeousness before it's too late!
Signature Eyes 116 Koukyou ($52, Selfridges)
This is, in essence, a very wearable taupe eyeshadow palette with some twists. Koukyou means "red mirror" in Japanese, and this symbolizes the early rising sun in the summer reflected on the sea surface. How poetic is that! And I think it was encaptured in this quad quite nicely. I love that Suqqu gives us beautiful imageries behind their makeup collections and the embodiment of it is always genius.
Suqqu eyeshadow formulation is superb as always - creamy, pigmented just right, blendable, and layers well.
Melting Powder Highlighter 101 Kagerou ($42, Selfridges)
Kagerou means "heat haze" and you can clearly see it on the surface of this gorgeous highlighter. It is a champagne gold with peach undertones, which is not the kind that I usually go for but thanks to such refined texture, it still looks sophisticated and even flattering on my complexion.
This color would work beautifully as a highlighter on various skin tones but since it has enough pigment, I can wear it as a very light highlighting blush.
Moisture Rich Lipstick 123 Shakuka ($35.50, Selfridges)
Suqqu Moisture Rich Lipstick has been my favorite sheer glossy lip formula. For some reason, this one feels even better than I remembered. Many of you like the famous Chanel Rouge Coco Flash, but if you ask me, it doesn't hold a candle to Suqqu Moisture Rich (that's strictly speaking about formulation only. Chanel still excels in colors!). It is one of the few lip formulas that actually improve my lip condition.
Shakuka means "ripe fruit" in Japanese, and this is an uplifting poppy red that looks and feels amazing on the lips. Perfect red for the summertime.
