Victoria Beckham Beauty is one of those brands that many luxury content creators rave about, but for some reason, I hesitated for quite a long while. To me, the product and color ranges are on the small side and while the whole line exudes luxury, I couldn't help but think it's the glorified Estée Lauder (nothing wrong with Estée Lauder, it's just that Victoria Beckham is more expensive...)
Anyway, I finally pulled the trigger and got more than a few popular items from Victoria Beckham. My overall experience is mostly positive but I feel a bit underwhelmed. Everything is still very solid and I even want to grab a couple more shades in the future should there be another sale. Scroll down for some swatches and thoughts. (Also, check out my video review if you like.)
Lid Lustre ($36, Bergdorf Goodman)
I got two shades - Chiffon and Mink. Both are gorgeous and the consistency is great. They feel creamy to touch and blend out beautifully. The color payoffs are excellent as well. Chiffon is one of the two new shades that came out recently. It's a neutral champagne shimmer with an ethereal glow. Mink is very much my kind of shade, a cool taupe with an interesting blue/khaki twist. However, I can't help but think that these are neither new nor innovative. Giorgio Armani mastered this formulation years ago and we even have a drugstore option for under $10 (Seriously though, get L'Oreal Infallible in Bronzed Taupe. It's one of my favorite shimmery taupes, period). Victoria Beckham is a clean beauty brand and mica used to make Lid Lustres is sourced ethically, which is something to be noted.
Satin Kajal Liner ($28, Bergdorf Goodman)
This is a highly-praised eyeliner formulation and I find it is indeed great. It is a super creamy and soft liner that just glides on. Very malleable and easy to smudge (the smudging tip attached is also nice) but because of that, the application can be a bit tricky. I personally prefer gel pencil liners like Chanel Stylo Yeux and also know a great drugstore alternative to Satin Kajal. Prestige Cosmetics Intense Eye Liner is very similar and as excellent as the Victoria Beckham not to mention it is just $10.
Future Mascara ($28, Bergdorf Goodman)
It is a decent mascara with an intense black color and delicate applicator, but because it is sort of a tubing mascara, I don't love it. I am not a fan of how a tubing mascara removes and personally haven't seen a tubing mascara that holds my curls. I think I will use this on my lower lashes as the small applicator is handy for that. If you like this particular brush shape and want a truly waterproof mascara, I have another option for you - Clio Kill Lash Superproof mascara.
Posh Lipstick in Moody ($38, NET-A-PORTER)
The Posh lipstick formulation is gorgeous. It is highly pigmented and feels nourishing and light on the lips. There is a slight grip so it lasts pretty well, too. I love the slim yet substantial lipstick tube as well. I just wish that I loved the color that I picked out a bit more. Moody is a slightly muted deep berry/crimson that looks too dark and vampy on me if I wear it in full strength. It does remind me of the old Dior Addict lipstick Black Tie shade. I couldn't find any particular color from the selection that grabbed my attention so I would love to see more shades in the future since the formulation is excellent.
I wasn't wowed by the experience yet felt there is something more to the brand for me to further explore. I suppose you'd have to be a Spice Girls fan to really appreciate this brand as well. I am not.
Thank you for being here. Have you tried Victoria Beckham Beauty? What are your thoughts?
