I can't say Dior's Spring 2022 Makeup Collection is new or innovative (actually, color story-wise, it's not inclusive at all) but it is very traditionally "spring" and of great quality. I picked up quite a few pieces from this large collection despite my initial effort. These are not the usual colors that I go for but are very pretty nonetheless. Scroll down for some swatches and thoughts. For the makeup look, please check out my recent video.
Dior 5 Couleurs Couture 839 Popeline ($62, Dior)
I wish there was one deeper shade in the quint for me to create more dimension to the look, but this is a perfect little eyeshadow palette as is. There is a warmer quint called Organza in this collection and I think these are Dior's interpretations for crisp airy spring fabrics. I have to respect that.
Popeline consists of a variety of pinks with different textures plus a gorgeous mink-y taupe (which is quite close to Dior Mono Couleur in Nude Dress). The shimmer and sheen in these colors are just gorgeous and very sophisticated. The colors might be light but well pigmented and apply in excellent fashion.
Rouge Dior Blush 352 Rose Dentelle ($45, Dior)
If I am choosing just one favorite piece from the collection, this blush is it. Rose Dentelle is a soft muted pink with cool beige undertone. Very demure yet interesting color. This one is also nicely pigmented that I can clearly see the color show up on my cheeks. It also has the signature satin sheen of Rouge Dior blush that I adore. Highly recommended.
Dior Forever Cushion Loose Powder Mineral Glow ($60, Dior)
This poor powder was not very well-received because so many misunderstood this as a highlighter. This is not a highlighter but a setting powder with lots of visible shimmers. Of course, there is this light-catching effect because of that, but due to the very matte and loose base, the shimmers would be all over the place if you try to blend this out as you do with your highlighter in pressed powder formula. This powder is one of the reasons why I think this whole collection is geared towards the Asian market because loose powder like this is not uncommon in Asian makeup styles. It is best to use a puff and gently press it on the face for a certain effect.
I happen to own the Lavender shade and the base colors are very similar in these two. Both are great to achieve a clean ethereal skin finish.
Rouge Dior Balm 388 Dioressence ($39, Dior) & Dior Glow Stick 725 Rose Glow ($37, Dior)
I was so enamored by the translucent pink lipstick bullet from the promo image and purchased Dioressence Lip Balm without conducting any research. Turns out the color is so sheer that it practically is clear on my lips. It is a nice hydrating lip balm but I am not sure if it is worth $39.
On the other hand, Stick Glow that I picked up out of curiosity is so much nicer than I expected. I think this is better than Chanel Baum Essentiel because it sets down nicely on the cheeks with minimal stickiness and it feels and looks amazing on the lips. This is a multi-use stick for sure but I like it best on my lips. Rose Glow is such a beautiful pink.
Dior Vernis Top Coat 001 Opal ($28, Dior)
