I still have a hard time distinguishing lip oil from lip gloss but I am definitely finding out how good "lip oil" can actually improve my lip condition over time. Clarins Lip Comfort Oil Shimmer (currently on sale at $22.10, Saks Fifth Avenue) is a spinoff from their popular Lip Comfort Oil. It has the same cocktail of Macadamia, Coconut, and Hazelnut oil but delivers intense color and shimmer. I received a complimentary tube from Octoly in exchange for a review on Instagram but I wanted to talk about it here as well because it is quite lovely.
It comes in a square tube and with a plush doe-foot applicator. The applicator holds just the right amount of the product and feels so satisfying on the lips. The oil is scented with a slightly sweet fruity fragrance.
04 Intense Pink Lady (haha) is a very cool-toned berry pink with silver/light blue shimmer. It is borderline gaudy but I live for the lip colors like this. (It has become harder to find a good cool pink or red these days and I don't know why...)
The color payoff is indeed great. It instantly provides a juicy color with a ton of shine. It is not the plumping kind but my lips sure look plump and healthy wearing the lip oil. The only downside is that I can actually feel some grits probably because of the high shimmer content.
An overall look with Clarins Lip Comfort Oil Shimmer in Intense Pink Lady:
Compared to my other favorite lip oil, Dior Lip Glow Oil (currently on sale at $29.75, Saks Fifth Avenue), the Clarins is more of a makeup product than a lip care product and I don't mind it at all. I actually haven't tried the original Lip Comfort Oil but now I feel somewhat intrigued.
Thanks for being here. Have you tried Clarins Lip Comfort Oil range? What do you think of them?
