I am usually quick to buy new makeup from Chanel but I hesitated quite a bit this time. Many influencers have declared that "the new Chanel Rouge Coco Bloom ($40, Chanel) is an amplified version of Rouge Coco Flash. If you like Rouge Coco Flash, you will love these". You see, I am not a big fan of Rouge Coco Flash (I do like them but personally, I think they should be so much better especially for $40 a pop). The main issue is that the base is too slippery due to its high oil content and although it works fine with sheer pigmentation, the combination of slippery base and high pigment can be a disaster. Thankfully, after reading some sensible reviews, I was convinced that the formula of the new Rouge Coco Bloom is nice and practical enough so I treated myself 3 beautiful colors.
Unlike the popular opinions, I find the formulation rather close to the original Rouge Coco, not Rouge Coco Flash. It glides on the lips while covering well with one swipe and feels emollient. It is more intense in pigment and lasts longer compared to the original. Season and Destiny leave a bit of stain behind, which I think is partly the reason why they are long-lasting. The boasted plumping effect is also visible. My lips look slightly fuller and smoother when I wear these lipsticks.
Dream(116) is a creamy pink beige. The color isn't too pale so it doesn't wash me out. I will be wearing this one a lot with cool smokey eyes.
Destiny (136) is a vibrant strawberry red. Unexpectedly, this is my favorite. It is different from any other red lip colors that I own. Such a brightening and uplifting shade.
I had my doubts initially but I do think that the new Chanel Rouge Coco Bloom ($40, Chanel) is a solid winner. As usual, Chanel excels in colors but I also find the formulation is quite amazing.
Thanks for being here. What do you think of these new lipsticks from Chanel?
