Dior Holiday 2020 makeup collection "Golden Nights" is exceptionally beautiful with killer embossings and gorgeous colors. Initially, it was rather difficult to track down all the items I wanted from the collection and I even had to do something I hadn't done for years - calling random Dior boutiques and department stores! The efforts were well worthwhile because I love everything I have picked.
Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Golden Snow ($63, Saks Fifth Avenue)
There are two contrasting eyeshadow quints in the collection, and I chose the warmer one, Golden Nights. It seems the right choice because the Golden Nights is more wearable and versatile than its counterpart. The snowflake-themed embossings are really out of this world that even the thought of swatching them pained me quite a bit.
Golden Nights quint has the new formulation with baked textures. All shades apply beautifully and have good color payoffs. The overall tone is warm but not overly so that I would think that anyone could wear this quint. The complex golden khaki is my favorite.
Dior 5 Couleurs Golden Nights did remind me of a few eyeshadow palettes that I own, so I made some comparison swatches.
Dior 5 Couleur Jungle (reviewed) is quite comparable but in practice, Jungle looks more sultry and vivid while Golden Nights creates more subtle looks with pale peachy gold and khaki tones.
Minus the shimmery peach, Chanel Les 4 Ombres Codes Elegants looks similar. The textures are somewhat different that each palette yields different effects if you ask me.
Dior Rouge Blush Rose Frisson ($45, Saks Fifth Avenue)
This blush is so pretty! Dior describes it as "a crystalline pink". It is a cool-toned rose pink with pale champagne shimmers. The color is like how I wanted NARS Orgasm blush to be. If you find the famous NARS blush is too warm and golden, you might love Dior Rose Frisson.
It is very pigmented and has a soft creamy texture. The shimmer is clearly there but it does not accentuate skin textures.
Dior Diorific Glittery Rose ($40, Nordstrom)
The name "Glittery Rose" is a bit misleading because this lipstick is not glittery inside. Instead, it has the most subtle sheen to the color which I find so attractive. It is a complex rose with a bit of a brown undertone. It is unique in my collection.
Diorific formula is just as I remembered - pigmented and comfortable. It is one of the best semi-matte lipstick formulations out there. It still has the same scent that brings the old memories for me.
A group swatch with all three items mentioned above:
Diorific Vernis Dark Nights ($29, Nordstrom)
I bought it for the sake of it, but you could totally skip on this one. Don't get me wrong. It is a beautiful dark burgundy that exudes posh but if you're like me, you probably have similar colors in your collection. It is a color that is easily dupable. The formulation is great, though.
Now, let me show you a few overall looks with Dior Holiday 2020 Golden Nights collection.
