Dear Dahlia is a Korean luxury vegan brand that I have been interested in for some time. The brand isn't exactly affordable (it's a department store brand) and the colors they offer are mostly warm, so I hesitated despite being tempted every time I see their gorgeous ads on Instagram. I was particularly interested in the purple-themed eyeshadow/blush palette from the "Blooming Edition Secret Garden Collection" but wasn't sure enough to buy it sight unseen. I finally decided to try the brand when I saw the whole set is nearly half off from the website last week. My order was shipped via DHL express and arrived in 3 days in impeccable condition.
I haven't tried a full face with the collection yet, but from what I've swatched, everything seems solid. The eyeshadow/blush palette has the typical Korean makeup aesthetics - muted pastels with blurred finishes and multi-shimmer toppers - yet it seems to be much better quality compared to most Korean roadshop brands that I have tried. For one thing, no powder kickups. The packagings are quite elegant and beautiful, too.
First up, the freebies
On top of the makeups, I also received a peach pink mesh cosmetic case, 2 vegan makeup brushes, a hand mirror, a set of makeup sponges, and mini Velvet Lip Mousse duo. All seem well-made and good quality.
Blooming Edition Secret Garden Palette - Spring Bouquet
There are 8 eyeshadows and 1 blush included in this palette. There are two more varieties in the collection and Spring Bouquet is the cool-toned option.
Blooming Edition Skin Paradise Soft Focus Shine Control Powder
This is a finely milled pressed powder with little to no powder kickup. The color appears very bright but it's virtually colorless.
Paradise Dual Palette Blush Duo - Fair Lady
This is a darling little thing. The compact is tiny but feels sturdy. One side has cream blush and the other pressed powder blush. The color Fair Lady is an innocent peachy-pink duo that's impossible to overdo.
Lip Paradise Sheer Dew Tinted Lipstick (Victoria), Paradise Aurora Shine Lip Treatment (Heavenly), and Velvet Lip Mousse minis (Guava & Ballet)
I am most excited about the palette since this is unique in my collection. I don't think the lip stuff or the blush is a must-have although they seem to be great quality. I will share more thoughts after putting them to use.
I ordered mine directly from Dear Dahlia website. They ship from Korean and offer free shipping on international orders over $50. There is an additional 10% off when you sign up for membership.
