Becca Pearl Glow Shimmering Eye Palette

I had something else in mind for today's post but I thought I would show you this underrated beauty that I recently found instead. It's already quite late to talk about it because Becca brought out the "Pearl Glow" collection last year. I like Becca a lot but had absolutely no idea about this collection not to mention this eyeshadow palette. It was about a few weeks ago when an Instagrammer that I follow posted about a gem she scored at T.J. Maxx.

Becca Pearl Glow Shimmering Eye Palette is still available on the Becca website and on Ulta (marked down from $58 to $46), but I believe it is being sold for $20 at the discount store. I bought mine off Amazon for $30 because I didn't want to go to T.J. Maxx plus I wanted it fast, but you can also find it at a more affordable price on eBay. I can tell you though, this palette is worth your money if not for the full price.

The packaging is sleek with the glossy white and purple exterior. It is a bit chunky probably because of those dome-shaped colors, but overall it's nice.

Some of you know that I rarely buy eyeshadow palettes that contain more than 4 shades (Dior quints are exceptions), but I had to get this because of the subtle duochrome shades and the practical, easy-to-use color stories. It's like you get two different eyeshadow palettes, one in cool and the other in warm colors.

Becca Pearl Glow Shimmering Eye Palette consists of eyeshadows with 3 different finishes - pearlescent, luminous, and matte. The dome-shaped colors are pearlescent ones but they have slightly different sizes of shimmer and finishes. Some shift colors more than others, too. Unlike Pat MacGrath Ritualistic Rose quad (reviewed), I have no issue with picking up the party shades with glitters using brushes, but Oyster, Sunlight, Iridescent Aura feel grittier than the other pearlescent shades.

This is the cool-toned side. All 6 shades can be incorporated into a single look (although you don't have to) with soft lilac/periwinkle hues. You can easily go for more dramatic smokey eyes. It doesn't look harsh because the matte black (Exotic Black Pearl) and the deep shimmery blue-grey (Pacific) are very good quality and there are plenty of transitional and brightening shades included.

Compared to the other, this side has warmer colors including a soft shell pink, shimmery taupes, and browns. Again, it's extremely easy to use and all shades perform evenly. I would say the overall tone is still on the neutral side.

Becca says these have "buildable formula with lightweight and soft radiant finish", and I have to agree. This is how I prefer my eyeshadows, actually. I personally dislike super pigmented eyeshadows that only swatch well but fail to look beautiful when worn in real life. These colors swatch rather softly but they are very blendable and sit nicely on the skin. They are no Suqqu eyeshadows, but I know that I will reach for them often. It's something I would pack for a trip.

I put together an overall look using the 6 shades on the warmer side. You can see the colors are neutral and even lean towards purple. It's due to the Iridescent Aura shade that I used as a topper because it is a duochrome that flashes purple. If you skip this shade, it looks taupe for the most part.

I am also wearing:
Clinique Cheek Pop in Ballerina Pop (from this palette),
and Suqqu Moisture Rich Lipstick in Hikaribana.

I really am happy that I have found this palette. Better late than never, they say?
