Deborah Lippmann Rockstar Gel Lab Pro Set is a selection of moody grey and purple hues. I ordered the set during the Nordstrom anniversary sale but it is still available at the same low price. Today I am going to show you a quick swatch set of all colors and talk about the Gel Lab Pro polish formula.
The Rockstar set consists of 5 smaller sized bottles. These are not as small as Essie minis (they are not "legit" in my book) and come with the same size brush and at least 2 balls inside. This is quite important in my view. There is a good mix of light to medium colors with different finishes that I find all wearable and even flattering on.
Each shade has a rock-music-themed name. Deborah Lippmann herself is a quite talented singer and I like that she often names her polishes in reference to popular songs or musicians.
- Ghost In My Machine is a champagne with strong shimmer
- Cool Your Heart is a cool nude creme
- Like A Rolling Stone is a dusty taupe creme
- Quiet Storm is a deep taupe creme
- Smoke On The Water is a slate grey creme with tiny shimmer
Swatch set
Deborah Lippmann Gel Lab Pro boasts the fancy formula with evening primrose, biotin, green tea extract, epoxy resins, and silk fibers. It supposedly provides the shiny long lasting gel effects without damaging the nails. Personally, I am not 100% sold on the formulation. I have no major issue with the application but find the formula a bit goopy at times. The Good thing is that all colors in the set provide full coverage and one coat is just enough and even prettier that way. However, I don't think the finish is particularly shinier or mimics the gel finish. I am not sure if this is because I did not use the Gel Lab Pro Duo with the special base and top coats.
Bottomline love the colors but not the formula. If you like sporting cool dusty shades on your nails, this set is certainly worth looking especially for the price. I wouldn't choose the Gel Lab Pro over regular Deborah Lippmann polishes just for the formulation, though.
Have you tried the new Deborah Lippmann Gel Lab Pro polishes? What are your thoughts?
