I am still searching for that "perfect summer white" polish but if I don't, I should be just fine with Essie Gel Couture Wearing Hue?. It looks decidedly pink from the picture, but in real life, it is an opaque white color blushed with champagne shimmer.
Some of you know that I dismissed and even made fun of this new range from Essie. I still think the bottle shape is impractical and I can't fully get on with the wider brush. Having said all that, I have to tell you that now I own 5 Gel Couture nail polishes and 2 bottles of Gel Couture Top Coat.
The formula is very consistent from what I've tried so far (sheer creme, sheer shimmer, gel-creme, and opaque shimmer) and it does seem to provide long wears especially when paired with the Gel Couture Top Coat. Both nail polish and top coat are priced at $11.49 which is a fair price in my opinion, but you can also find value combos ($18.49 on target.com).
(See? It's more white than pink.)
Without the top coat, Wearing Hue? dries to a semi-matte finish that I also find chic in a way, but it's the top coat what makes that "gel-like" finish. It is not as fast drying as Seche Vite (still pretty fast, though) but the shine lasts longer without dulling.
I love the crisp color contrast that does not alienate my own skin unlike some of the opaque white polishes. Thanks to the subtle shimmer and the overall excellent formulation, it is quite easy to apply as well. If you're looking for a wearable white polish, do give Essie Wearing Hue? a try.
Thanks for reading. Wish you a great week ahead!
