YSL Rouge Pur Couture 55 Rouge Anonyme

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture 55 Rouge Anonyme (Luminous Red)-

Today is #NationalLiptickDay, I hear? I am not buying any lipstick but want to do a short post on one of my favorites. Rouge Anonyme (aka Luminous Red) is a beautiful ruby red with micro shimmer. I've had this one for more than a year now and been reaching for it whenever I feel like a conventional lipstick. 

To me, YSL Rouge Pur Couture is the ideal of full coverage lipstick if not innovational. I don't really mind the chunky gold case that collects fingerprints like mad except for when I take a picture of it. I know some of you are not fond of the rosy fragrance of this lipstick range, but I personally love it (on the other hand, I am not a big fan of the melon scent from the Volupte range). Beautiful colors? Check. Long lasting and comfortable on the lips? Check, check.

Yves Saint Laurent (or is it Saint Laurent now?) does red, pink, and orange so well, and Rouge Anonyme isn't an exception. I am so attracted to this cool red. For me, it is a practical red lipstick that is easy to wear and never fails to fetch compliments. The shimmer is so fine that it doesn't really show once applied, but the lips look fuller and more youthful. There is something quite modern about this pink red and it's not as serious as some I've tried. Rouge Anonyme is a carefree weekday red.

It is a saturated color and all you need is one swipe. I usually blot lightly and smudge the lip lines a bit as you see in the lip swatch pic above. The lipstick practically glides on and feels very light - I'd say this is a fine example of a fantastic combination of silicone and intense pigment.

I just looked and it seems that YSL may be phasing out this particular color (but why). There are tons available on eBay or on Amazon, though. I might need a backup myself.
